How do I know if my firebox needs repair?
Look for cracks in the firebrick wider than the edge of a coin, gaps at the mortar joints, or refractory panels that are crumbling or pulling away. Any of these means heat is reaching material that shouldn’t be getting hot. Stop using the fireplace and have it inspected.
Can you repair my fireplace insert, or do I need a new one?
Usually repair. Blower motors, door gaskets, glass, and damper components are all replaceable. We’ll tell you straight when a unit is past the point where repair makes financial sense — that’s a conversation, not a sales pitch.
Will an insert really heat my room better than an open fireplace?
Yes, substantially. An open fireplace sends most of its heat straight up the flue, and can actually pull warm air out of the house. A properly sized insert with a sealed surround puts that heat into the room instead.
How long does a fireplace installation take?
An insert or wood stove install is usually one day. A new masonry fireplace or a build that needs framing and venting work takes longer — we give you a realistic timeline with the quote, not an optimistic one.
